Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin that promotes a stronger immune system, helps regulate insulin and blood sugar, is crucial to fetal bone mineralization, and may have a role in decreasing the risk of multiple sclerosis, diabetes, and autism.  Vitamin D levels cross into the placenta and appear in baby's blood at the same concentration as in its mother.  It is important to know our level prior to taking a supplement.
