Vitamin D3 1000 IU
Vitamin D3 1000 IU
Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin that promotes a stronger immune system, helps regulate insulin and blood sugar, is crucial to fetal bone mineralization, and may have a role in decreasing the risk of multiple sclerosis, diabetes, and autism. Vitamin D levels cross into the placenta and appear in baby's blood at the same concentration as in its mother. It is important to know your level prior to taking a supplement.
Higher levels of Vitamin D can lower the risk of pregnancy–induced hypertension and can reduce the risk of asthma in a child. Studies show that the rate of cesarean section deliveries is found to be inversely related to vitamin D status.
Midwives of NJ recommend 2,000 IU of Vitamin D daily.
